Chansey and Blissey by AnnaJ Chansey and Blissey by AnnaJ
A prodject thing.. that i've done with :iconeerin:. We decides a pokémon to draw realistic, and then we compare our drawings. You can see Eerins neat blissey here; [link]
... and the colors was mean to me... and the scanner was mean to the colors... and i messed up the chansey, but i decided to keep it in the picture anyways... it's not nice.. but decent?
Oh, and remeber that next time you play pokémon yellow, it's one of thouse that stands behind the dest, looking at you.. :D

Chanseys evolved on a very isolated place, where there was no predators large enough to be a threat the chanseys.
Thus, the chanseys turned into very slow and very humble creatures. They have no natural defence nor defence behavior against predators.
And so, the day humans discoverd thouse slow and fat creatures they quickly turned into a popular prey. In time, the number of chansey was heavily reduced and today they are extreamly rare. They are today an endangerd pokémon, but even if there been large prodjects to protect thouse creatures, there's many still poachers and pokémon trainers that threat the few wild chanseys that are left. Today serval marking systems is in trial to prevent trainers form capturing wild captured chanseys. It's known that some uncareful pokémon trainers have released their predator pokemons into the wild in the same area where chanseys live.

Why the chanseys grow more hair when they evolve was for long a great mystery, but now some sciantist claim that it has to do with a ranking system. The furr is also said to show how health a invidual is, and a chansey with bad furr is likely to be avoided by other chanseys. However, as chansey are generally single-living creatures, many are doubtful to thouse theories.
The chanseys reproduce slowly and lays an egg about every twice year. One special thing with the chanseys are that there seam to only be females, hence the child will be pretty much a clone of it's mother. Once the egg is laid, the mother will carefully place the egg in a poach on her belly, where she can heat it and protect it from natural egg-thiefs like ekans and murkrows.
Chanseys can move slowly on all four, but they are often seen sitting on their hind legs resting. They often stand in that pose while guarding it's cub as well. There may not been any predators that could take a fully grown chansey, but hte cubs are very easy targets.

(for thouse that a female only speices just seam too strange, there's acully a lizard that is like for real ;) )

D'aaaw! She's a naked mole rat!
Saiyan5Nine-Tails Featured By Owner Dec 11, 2010
Well, points for creativity, I'll give you that, but there's none of the natural cuteness that Chansey possess. I'd more envision Chansey and Blissey as looking sort of like flightless birds, not mole rats.

Rofl. Nice, see people, that's the one of most rarest pokemon realisticly done! See why they're so rare!? BECAUSE THEY'RE SO UGLY!

And on a more serious note, I've been looking through your drawings. They're great! Like, really really great! I quite enjoy the Ekans one where it's eating the Rattatata

This is a pretty interesting concept, though it seems like Chansey do have at least one natural defense, such as their high health points or ability to produce exploding eggs.

I like their feet a lot xD

Awww so cute!

These guys are pretty cool. They look a bit like naked mole rats (though I guess their naked mole rat monotremes, because they lay eggs). I find it ironic how you said they are defenseless, yet blissey is famous for being the best defender in Pokemon.

Though, it's hard to imagine these as the cute little nurses who help out Joy. Man oh, man, if one of those things tried to sing me to sleep, I'd get insomia. Makes one wonder how a chansey managed to greatly exceed Jessie in nursing school due to its superior soothing skills.

Creepiest rendition I've ever seen of Blissey! I love it.

If you want to trade prints of these for originals from me, let me know. I'd love to add some of your art to my Art Trading Card collection.

Seriously, It is an awesome idea, but I would love to see pokemon that you draw realistic actually look like the pokemon. Although your creatures are creepy. Shows us if pokemon was real, what they would look like. Actually it is really scary. I know if I had a Gengar the way you dew it, Would scare the mess out of me. But good job.

But back to Chansey and Blissy, I think maybe you should of drawn it like Blissy or Chansey, they look like rats. But I like the creature.

I honestly don't think a realistic chansey or a realistic blissey should look like this. :|

'bout time someone shows not all pokemon are pretty, cute, or cool when they look realistic! :+fav: (I like the Blissy though

AnnaJ Featured By Owner Jul 24, 2006  Hobbyist General Artist
I think they are called "New Mexico Whiptail Lizard" (Cnemidophorus neomexicanus in latin?) :)

Cool thanks. I'm gonna laugh if it turns out I've seen one before and I didn't know, being from New Mexico... XD

I really like your work. XD
Zazar Featured By Owner Jul 14, 2005
It is cool but hard to explain the Blissey's special defense. But it is cool. The Chansey looks like a chansey would look in life. The fur thing is a bit strange though.
glitchedpuppet Featured By Owner Jul 14, 2005  Professional Digital Artist
so strange from what I'd think XD but quite awesome. I want to draw more realistic pokemon ^^
KaeMantis Featured By Owner Jul 14, 2005
Ah, brilliant! They resemble, in a way, naked mole rats. Which, unlike whiptail lizards, DO still produce males, but are matriarchal for what it's worth. ;>
AnnaJ Featured By Owner Jul 14, 2005  Hobbyist General Artist
Mm, from the beging they looked much more like rodents then here and they gave me the though of naked mole rats as well :)
About the gender thing, i usually try to ignore this fact but this time i just felt like inflicting a comment about it for chansey. After all, one gender creatures can't really compete in the evolution race (hence, the few truley genderless or female only creatures are very small and unspecialtised, as they only evolve through mutations. And generally, extreamly few mutations in the DNA is any good. Thus, soon as any bigger change on the earth will happen, the whiptail lizard speices won't last long, as changes is what triggers evolution).
I certainly dislike the one gender concept in pokémon, the ones that doesn't have any counterpart pokémon of the opposite gender. I find some of the "genderless" pokemon badly choosen, and that the f/m chance isn't always 50/50 very silly and stupid. Like everything, that didn't evolve without a reason and it's simply annoying in the game.
Okay, i'll stop with my blah-blah-blah for now ^^;
bananazoko Featured By Owner Jul 13, 2005
Very interesting. I always would have believe blissey and chansey would be cuter, but this is a very thought-provoking rendition as well. The big feet please me very much so, heh. I await to see more of your lovely renditions!
